A new slant on the news and paywall progress (or not)

A new online service, aimed at financial professionals, and called FT Tilt is to be launched later this year.

They’re currently recruiting, so if you’re a journalist or a user-experience engineer, this could be for you!

The service is described as a “blend of lively news and analysis”.

Despite the various paywalls that have arisen this year, news aggregators still seem to be holding their own, while The Times is (perhaps), just about content with the 150,000 registrations on its site, although online traffic to their site has dropped 67%.  This is not as bad as they’d feared.  Mind you, of these only 15,000 are paid subscribers.

However, Business Insider’s article on the paywall progress reports that 12,500 iPad users have signed up at £10 a month, so it looks as if Apple is helping out.

Conclusion so far?  Paywalls – not very disruptive.
